The Lone Star Youth Orchestra provides young, advanced level instrumentalists in the Metroplex area the opportunity to supplement and enhance their music education through opportunities to learn symphonic literature and high quality orchestral and ensemble training. Membership, by audition, in the Lone Star Youth Orchestra is open to all middle school and high school string, woodwind, brass, and percussion players.
Founded in 1999, the Lone Star Youth Orchestra is under the direction of Drew Johnson. Rehearsals take place weekly at the Irving Arts Center from 6:15 - 9:00PM, including a weekly snack break! The LSYO provides 4 concerts a year to the public at Carpentar Hall in the Irving Arts Center.
